I feel extremely sorry for your loss ans sufferings.
1) Where are you from?? and
2) where the accident took place??
3) do you have all the details regarding the vehicle??
4) keep it safe all the reports of the doctors regarding your accident and hospital bill....
FIR, is not the end in any case. it is just the First Information report. and you always have a opportunity to claim from the court of law under Motor Vehicles Act.
Observe whether the police has filed a charge sheet against the culprit or not. file a police complaint in details, including the fact of his drunkenness, go through a good Advocate. (not the one who charge you exorbitant but brings you justice)
Please, file a case against the person for compensation and damages. you can mention all the details clearly in the plaint filing before the court of law. and you can also mention that the Police neglected his Drunken state and you have suffered both mentally and physically. Claim not less than 3 to 5 lakhs and you will end up with getting atleast half of the amount you have claimed.
Do not hesitate you step up the court..... it is your right and your claim the justice. But make sure you have all the evidence, witnesses and proof.
