Subject - Contract Labour Act Vs Building Construction Workers' Act
I am working in a Thermal Power Project in UP.

There are around 2500 contract labours under various contractors at site. They are covered under the Contract Labour Act and have been complying with various provisions therein.

Now my query is whether in such a construction site the contract labour act or the Building construction workers' act or both will be applicable?

If both, then which provisions from which Act to be entertained as certain sections / rules are common to both (viz., welfare, health, muster rolls, registers etc) and different returns / forms are also required for same reason?

Hope to get a satisfactory reply soon from the elite and knowledgable members of the site.

Since the workers are doing jobs in Thermal Power Plant, adoption of Contract Labour Act will be safe to get regular jobs at a later date.

dear
i am not much aware about the clauses of building construction workers act
but here i feel that you are asking just like that if some wokers are engaged in factory through contract than contractors act will apply or factories act will apply.here both act will apply factories act as well as contract labour act.
in your case both act will apply because purpose of both act is seprate and one is not alternate of other.

Dear Friend

If your site has having work of civil construction and employ building workers then Building and other construction workers Act will apply and it will apply simultaneously with Contract Labour Act.
Pls bear in mind that after completion of the civil work, 1% of Cess is to be paid on such cost of construction.
