| Kausik Das - Member Since: Nov 2008 Subject - Contract Labour Act Vs Building Construction Workers' Act I am working in a Thermal Power Project in UP. There are around 2500 contract labours under various contractors at site. They are covered under the Contract Labour Act and have been complying with various provisions therein. Now my query is whether in such a construction site the contract labour act or the Building construction workers' act or both will be applicable? If both, then which provisions from which Act to be entertained as certain sections / rules are common to both (viz., welfare, health, muster rolls, registers etc) and different returns / forms are also required for same reason? Pls bear in mind that after completion of the civil work, 1% of Cess is to be paid on such cost of construction. Regards
