Dear Friend,

It is fact that everybody deserve a better opportunities. But since you work for a company and having certain roles and responsibilities which need to be transit to somebody coming to your position. It varies depending on the company policies.
If every person will change immediately from company to company then it will be difficult for the HR team to handle there employee in the organization.Coz they need to recruit another person for the vacancy.

Ashis

I agree with the views expressed by Ashish, it will be very difficult for HR Deptt to find replacement of the employees leaving without serving notice period.

Notice period is the part of service contract.

Yeah, necessary that way HR can try and replace you or find someone to fill your spot till he does replace you. I think If employer asks to stay longer than two weeks (or the time period in contract) you have no obligation to stay. Your new employer will be expecting you to start as scheduled, and in a timely manner. What you could do, is offer to help your previous employer, if necessary, after hours, via email or on the phone.

dear all
i agree with mr ashis .if we will leave companies without hading proper charge than it will become a mash and same movement HR dept requires time to provide replacement.eventhough good companies are giving three month notice time both the ways.

Greetings,
Notice period is are part of the contracts and the period depands on the roles and responsibilitis you are handling in the organisation. The purpose of notice period is manifold, to handover the responsibilities, to clear the assignments/projects you have on hand, you are directly and indircetly involved in many jobs, hence, your mere putting resignation and moving out of the organisation is restricted.
If you see the notice periods generally in case of probationers/Trainees it is 24 hrs or 3 days, in case of staff and lower management it is One month and Middle and top management it is Six months. (It may vary from organisation to organisation the above are general trends)
Regards,
Sopan
