Hey!
I am a corporate lawyer with one and half years of experience. Presently working for a law firm based in Delhi. My professional qualification includes a Master in Laws (LL.M) from National Law School, Bangalore with the specialization in Business Laws.
I am looking for a switchover in branded Law Firm or a Corporate House. Keeping in mind the present sceneario/recession what are the job prospects in my field. How much is my industry effected with the present recession?
Should I go for job portals like Monster.com etc and avail their paid services or contact some HR Consultancy Firms like Kelly Services etc?
My area of expertise are vetting and reviewing of Agreements related to Real Estate and Corporate Transactions, preparing memorandums/opinions related to Corporate, Investments and Securities Laws. Further I have lead a legal Due Diligence team of five people and have prepared the Due Diligence report single handedly.
Response awaited

Yuvika Singh

Hello,

I too have a specialization in Business Laws from NLSIU...... myself looking for a corporate practice..... but the firms are not so open these days, you might get the job since you are experienced in a specific field....... even i do not have any family background of law, most of the jobs are open in the real estate rather corporate, i did continuously tried on corporate field I just could not move at all...... my qualifications are LLB;MBA;MBL, I in fact tried working on my own by it was worst during 2011 and 2012, yeah the recession has hit the corporate legal practice, and majority of corporate firms have got tie ups with the Diplomats so it is bit difficult to survive alone..... why dont you try in top firms in Bangalore, since you are from NLS you might get an interview, you get the details from legal500......

And regarding BPO, it is better with the salaries but hardly counts as legal experience tomorrow.......

but, approaching through the firm owned websites may help you know the vacancies, majority of them recruit all the known ones and employee referral, so they hardly call for interviews........ fact is a fact....... but i think you have chances, do try....... Wish you all the very best of bests........

Regards,

BSSV
