All labour laws will be applicable even to educational institute as it is an establishment. Therefore the Shops and commerical establishemnts act, minimum wages act, payment of wages act, ESI EPF, Industrial disputes act, if located in mumbai then, Bombay Labour welfare fund act, MRTU and PULP act, standing orders ( if no of employees exceeds 50) Payment of Bonus Act, Payment of Gratuity act, etc. will be applicable. in addition to Maharashtra Universities act which governs appointments and conditions of service to teaching and non teaching employees.
