Dear Members,
In an pvt Engg College Maternity Leave is reduced to 60 days. If asked the managment says its not governed by any Maternity or Labour Act. Is it legal? Can a female staff fight for her right of 90 days? Kindly advice.

if you worked for 80 days in previous year you are entilted to get 6 week before the delivery and 6 week after delivery maternity leave. after that if u are sick, required bad rest. take the certificate from medical officer . company has to provide one month extra leave.
so here it is illegal that your college not providing leave. female worker has the right if she has worked 80 days in previous year from the date of delivery. she has to get the maternity leave of 90 days.
